Welcome! My name is Justine and I am a recent graduate of UC Santa Barbara! During my time here, I majored in Psychological and Brain Sciences with a minor in Professional Writing on the Science Communication track.
Ever since I was a little girl, I was surrounded by science. And I always embraced it -- whether it was playing in the dirt or visiting the aquarium to observe my favorite sea creatures. But I also grew up as a competitive dancer, so I also had an artistic side, allowing me to tap into my left and right brain from a young age. Little did I know that my immersion in the arts and science would lead me to discover my absolute favorite subject: Dance Science!
Being in the Science Communication track of the Writing Program has not only allowed me to share my niche interest but also broaden my understanding of Exercise Science. I'm constantly in awe of the different ways the human body can move, communicate with us, and connect with us. We don't give ourselves enough credit for what our bodies help us experience -- which is exactly why I want to educate others of how powerful and amazing our bodies are.
Empowered in Motion celebrates all forms of movement because no matter how you move, you're doing yourself a favor! With a variety of exercise science topics posted, the research becomes more accessible, helping you feel more connected with your movement.
Topics covered on the platform include:
- How Low-Impact Exercise Benefits the Nervous System (pictured)
- Importance of Sleep in Movement Performance
- Understanding Muscle Soreness
Do you ever find yourself going back and forth between different types of workouts?
